Contribution and Deficiency of Zhu Junsheng's Ancient Rhyme Division

朱骏声《说文通训定声》在文字学、音韵学、训诂学上的成就卓著。朱骏声以古韵十八部统领全篇,独具特色,对古韵研究做出了卓越的贡献:高度完善的谐声声系,堪称完备的古韵韵书;折中于考古、审音之间,入声"同门而异户";立足于"阴阳对转",拓展"音转理论"。然而不足之处亦有之:拘泥于谐声,对转过于自由,韵部怪癖字等。

Zhu Junsheng’s achievements in philology,phonology and scholium are embodied in his book Shuowentongxundingsheng.Zhu Junsheng uses 18 ancient meters to captain the whole,so the style has its features with great contribution to ancient phonology.Shuowentongxundingshengis a book with partial tone with maturity and can be seen as an ancient book for rhymes.ZhuJunsheng chooses the middle course between'kaogupai'and'shenyinpai'which are big factions of ancient phonology.He expands the theory of'yinzhuan'on the basis of transferring between metres.There is also some deficiency in this book.For example,he stickles the partial tone too much and makes the transferring between metres without measure.Also he uses the odd words to represent the ancient metres and so on.
