The weak structural planes usually refer to the structural planes filled with a certain thickness of soft rock or fractured material between the upper and lower layers of hard rock. Generally, if the structural planes of this type appear during the construction period, they have the characteristics of large scale, good ductility and fractured bandwidth, but the existence of the weak structural plane may cause the sliding of the rock structure and affect the overall stability of the rock. Therefore, it is necessary to fully understand the engineering geological classification of weak structural planes in order to provide corresponding guidance for the investigation and design of engineering projects. This paper makes a simple analysis of the engineering geological classification of weak structural planes for reference only.
