E.T.A.Hoffman,a German writer in the early nineteenth century,compared with other contemporary writers,has a consistent grotesque style,which is vividly reflected in the novel Der goldne Topf.This text adopts polyphonic narrative technique,which not only integrates reality and illusion with imagination,but also shows various possibilities of Anzemus in choosing the path of growth.But grotesque is not just a creative style.Hoffman uses it to metaphor the traumatic experience of himself and even the artist group in reality,and thus shows different narrative strategies for traumatic experience:symbolic avoidance of the unfortunate past and symbolic transcendence of them.The use of this progressive narrative strategy undoubtedly deepens the narrative level of the text and enriches its internal meaning.
