摘要
基于甘肃基础教育调查近千名中小学教师的微观个体数据,本文重点讨论了当地农村教师劳动力市场上的'本地人效应'。基于概率回归、生存分析和普通线性回归等统计分析技术,作者分别检验了教师来源地对其职业流动性、首份教职的持续时间以及学生在他们所教科目上的学业表现。研究发现:来自本村的教师在'下得去、留得住、教得好'等方面的表现更好。本研究为乡村教师队伍建设的'本地化'培养设想提供了初步证据,对农村地区师资的补充和稳定等工作具有参考价值。
Based on micro-data of individual teachers surveyed by the Gansu Survey of Children and Families(GSCF),this article tests the effect of teachers’place of birth on their career choice and labor market performance.Teachers born in the same village as they teach are defined as natives.They are less likely to initiate job transfers,survive longer in terms of the duration of the first teaching position,and perform equally well as(or no worse than)their counterparts born in other jurisdictions.The current study contributes to this stream of literatures by offering empirical from rural regions of China's Mainland.Policy implications of this study are obvious with regard to recruiting and retaining teachers for hard-to-fill positions in rural areas.
