On an Ideal Translator Model of Chinese Classics through the Analysis of Two Translated Texts of Three Kingdoms

通过分析《三国演义》两个译本语内翻译的问题:古汉语词句和修辞格、古代宗教哲学和古代文史百科知识,指出典籍外译单兵作战模式的不足,提出典籍翻译以汉学家为主体、中国译者校对的原则,以期对中国文学文化"走出去"有所裨益。

This paper points out the drawbacks of the single translator model of Chinese classics through the analysis of two translated texts of Three Kingdoms: the misunderstanding of ancient Chinese diction,syntax and figures of speech,ancient Chinese religions and philosophy,and of various ancient Chinese cultural facts. It advocates that Chinese classics translated by a sinologist should be checked by a Chinese translator with the aim of benefiting Chinese literature and culture 'going out of China'.
