One guest editor of this special issue was interviewed earlier this year by Prof. David T. Allen, editor-in-chief of ACS Sustainable Chemistry&Engineering, during the ACS National Meeting&Exposition in New Orleans. The final question being asked, as we paraphrase, was 'what is the next big thing in sustainable chemistry and engineering?'
