The criticism of the historical revisionism of the Abe Administration from Western mainstream public opinion has its unique norms orientation and security considerations. Different from the dominant paradigm of anti- aggression and anti- colonial perception against Japanese right- wing revisionism in China,South Korea and other countries, the Western mainstream public opinion has more to do with the paradigms of human rights and ' historical justice' that are prevalent in the West. There are security concerns mixed in the perception of the historical revisionism of the Abe Administration in both Eastern and Western public opinion. China,South Korea and other East Asian countries feel potential danger from a resurgence of Japanese militarism in the historical revisionism, while the main concerns of Western public opinion for the historical revisionism are that it may lead to the tensions between China and Japan out of control, and the growing rift be-tween Japan and South Korea, the two most important U. S. allies in East Asia, may open up opportunities of which China can take advantage. Such position mainly reflects the security considerations of the United States to implement the strategy of rebalancing in East Asia. Because of Abe's historical revisionism,Japan's pacifist image has been subverted, and the concerns of Western public opinion over Japan's right- wing nationalism are rising obviously. At the same time, due to the considerations of ideology and security interests,Western public opinion also shows its parochialism and prejudice.
