颠覆与传承:厄休拉·勒瑰恩《道德经》英译研究

On Ursular K. Le Guin's Translation of the Tao-te-ching

《道德经》明晰不足、暗示有余的文本特点吸引着一代代学者进行阐释和翻译。20世纪中后期,英译《道德经》极大繁荣,目前已成为世界上除《圣经》以外翻译频率最高、发行量最大的典籍文本。本文立足翻译与创作的关系,深度分析美国著名科幻、奇幻女性主义作家厄休拉·勒瑰恩(Ursular K.Le Guin)对《道德经》文本诗意的模仿,对道家"圣人"形象的解构与对《道德经》文本元意的重构,以期揭示20世纪末美国接受视域中《道德经》英译对传统文本解读的颠覆与传承。

With its simplicity and awesome profundity, the Tao-te-ching attracts generations of scholars' attentions. Being a classic of philosophy and literature, it is widely read in China, with numerous commentaries.It is no less known to the West through a long line of translators who have always read something new into the text. Only next to the Bible, the Tao-te-ching is the second most frequently translated book in the world. Among the English translations of the Tao-te-ching, the present paper focuses on the one by the American feminist writer Ursular K. Le Guin. With her translation and rewriting, Le Guin offers a quite unique perspective of interpreting Tao-te-ching. The present author proposes that by deconstructing the traditional occidental interpretations, Le Guin has reconstructed different images of Shengren and Dao to fulfill her mission of transculturation.
