The Song of Swallow: How music pushes the story to newer heights

2013年3月,由上海歌剧院倾力创排的原创歌剧《燕子之歌》首度亮相,即获一致好评。这部歌剧以回顾的方式,将我国著名声乐教育家、花腔女高音歌唱家周小燕先生的一生搬上了歌剧舞台。周小燕先生是中国歌剧事业的先进人物,她早年远渡重洋赴法留学,名扬欧洲之时却心系祖国安危,毅然决心归国并投身祖国的歌剧事业,成为一名教书育人的声乐教育家。现如今,活跃于国内外歌剧舞台的众多华人歌唱家们,大多得到过周先生的栽培和教导。在这位为人低调、一心在教育岗位上默默奉献的老一辈艺术家身上,散发着纯真质朴的个人魅力,她深厚的爱国情怀。

Much recognition was given to the plot and musical language of The Song of Swallow,a Shanghai Opera House production premiere that took place last year.This story is based on legendary pedagogue Zhou Xiaoyan.In the past year,the creative team devoted their energies to revising and finetuning the opera.
