埃德蒙顿歌剧院上演《莎乐美》,阵容彰显国际化特点

Edmonton Operas Salome:A production that features a strong international team

关于近日埃德蒙顿歌剧院在朱比利剧院上演的《莎乐美》,首先不得不说,演出是如此引人注目、发人深省,质量亦是如此之高,能够与当今世界任何一座最伟大的歌剧院媲美。演出的成功,有相当一部分应归功于桑德拉·加基奇(Sandra Gajic),这位任期短暂的埃德蒙顿歌剧院前任首席执行官,正是她打造了这个包括才华横溢的比利时年轻导演沃特·考肯(Waut Koeken)、指挥大卫·斯特恩(David Stern)等在内的国际化团队。也正是这样的团队,才能让那些原本以为经典歌剧是枯燥、过时、守旧的观众对歌剧有了新的体验与理解。这部歌剧打开了一扇巨大的视窗,开始关注人性等深层问题,而不仅仅是娱乐。不像以往的版本,只是将该剧片面地解读为情欲、东方色彩。可以想象,一些自认为经验丰富的歌剧观众可能会失望,新版《莎乐美》与过去真的大有不同。考肯和斯特恩曾经承诺,新版演出将"吹掉"这部歌剧之上的"灰尘",他们也确实做到了。

The first tiling about Edmonton Opera's production of Salome is that it is so compelling,so thought-provoking,and of such quality that it could happily transfer to any of the world's greatest opera houses.It is the first opera production in Alberta about which one could say this with such conviction.This was in large part the triumph of Sandra Gajic's short stint as CEO.Before resigning in May,Gajic was responsible for bringing together this synergetic mix of an international cast,the brilliant young Belgian director Waut Koeken,and the conductor David Stern.It is also exactly the kind of opera production that,if they only knew opera could be like this,would bring in younger audiences who assume the genre is boring,outmoded and conventional.
