In the film Carnegie Hall(1947),a lyric mezzo-soprano made a strong impression.She was Norwegian-born American mezzo-soprano Rise Stevens,a star at the Metropolitan Opera from 1938to 1961 who performed a total of 124 performances there.Her title role in Carmen has long been considered as a classic.
