Verdi revered Shakespeare.He had said that 'compared with all other dramatists,including the ancient Greeks,I love Shakespeare the most.' This year marks the 450^(th) anniversary of Shakespeare's birth,and commemorative activities are being planned all over the world.Among Shakespeare plays that have been made into opera we have Macbeth,Otello,Falstaff,Romeo and Juliet,A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Merry Wives of Windsor.
