Prince Igor is one of the greatest operatic masterpieces of Russian musical nationalism.It also sums up Alexander Borodin's creative genius.Although Borodin began composing the work in 1869,he did not live to finish it.Rimsky-Korsakov and Glazunov completed the work years later.The story is quintessentially Russian:about the war between the Russian Prince Igor and the Polovtsians in the south in 12 th century.
