在领导中国革命和建设的历程中 ,我党形成、坚持和发展了全心全意为中国人民服务的根本宗旨。这是我党获得中国最广大人民群众拥护和爱戴 ,使党能够战胜一切艰难险阻而立于不败之地的根本保证。同时 ,我们也应当看到 ,在改革开放和实行社会主义市场经济的新的历史条件下 ,党脱离人民群众的危险性大大增加。只有继续坚持为人民服务这一根本的宗旨 ,党才能永远与人民群众亲如鱼水 ,永远立于不败之地。

In the course of leading Chinese revolution and construction, our Party has formed and adhered to the basic purpose of serving the people with all our heart. This is the basic guarantee for our Party of gaining Chinese people's support and esteem, and remaining invincible by conquering all difficulties and dangers. Besides, we should also be aware that the potential danger of our Party's breaking away from the masses increases greatly in the reform-opening course and the development of socialist market-economy. Only through insisting on the basic aim of serving the people, can our Party keep close to the masses as fish with water, and always stand in the invincible position.
