Thoughts about Zheng He's Voyage from Ningbo to the Eastern Sea

最早发现郑和下东洋史料的是现南京大学的退休教授潘群。潘群花了2O多年的时间最终在1982年才公开发表相关论文,在史学界一石激起千层浪。从此后围绕这一问题的争论不断,辩论使人们对原有材料的认识愈加深刻,并去伪存真。在此基础上使郑和下东洋的史实更加清楚,使人们对郑和下东洋的出发港口、目的地、人数、意义更加清楚,不但为后来者进一步研究这一问题提供了借鉴,也为后人研究中日关系提供了有益参考。

The historical data about Zheng He's voyage to the eastern sea was fi rst found by a current retired professor of Nanjing University, Qun Pan. After spending over 20 years on the research, Qun Pan's paper was fi nally published in 1982 and raised a thousand ripples like a tossed stone. Ever since, controversies surrounding this issue emerged in a large numbers. The debate constantly made the understanding of the original material deeper and retains the true while eliminating the false. On this basis, historical facts about Zheng He's voyage to the east become more certain and lead others to know better about the departure port, destination, number, and meaning. It provides not only further study for the problem to the followers, but also useful reference to the research on the relationship between China and Japan.
