Throughout the history,Chinese and foreign scholars gave different academic interpretations on the sea route of Ten-thousand-men Fleet sent by Emperor Yang of Sui to the Ryukyu Kingdom in 610 AD.In 2011,an expert in Fujian History Research Institute introduced a new explanation that claims the army was formed by the soldiers from middle, north and east of Zhejiang Province. The departure port was Gouzhang Port which is the predecessor of current Ningbo Port. The voyage passed the northern sea area of Zhoushan Islands and then turned south, transiting in the Dongshan Island in the Southern Fujian Province and finally arrived the Ryukyu Kingdom which is located in the northern part of nowadays Taiwan Island. After years of study on the five main elements as source of soldiers, the departure port, the stopovers, the destination and the return location,it is argued that the theory is not correct and the voyage claimed by the expert does not exist.Besides,in the first part of this article, the existence of possible sea route between Ningbo and Taiwan before Sui Dynasty has been explored and a different opinion has been offered against the previous studies.
