On the Unity of Emotion and Figures in Paul de Man

Like many postmodernists, Paul de Man, a famous American deconstructionist, is often attacked for his mere emphasis on scholarship and lack of concern for emotions and for affectless language in his text. The author of this paper thinks that that criticism is partial and proposes that Paul de Man not only draws his attention to the study of emotions, but also put the study on the base of reason, creating a theory that integrates both emotion and figures.
