KISS-1/GPR54 system formed by KISS-1 and GPR54(KISS-1, sreceptor) genes, participates in the HPGA activity to switch on the puberty of animals, regulates Gn RH secretion from the hypothalamus, and stimulates the pituitary system to secrete the LH and FSH to influence the gonads, promotes the synthesis of hormones such as estrogen and testosterone, produces eggs and sperm, and finally leads to an individual with reproductive capacity. Therefore, this system plays a key regulatory role in the reproduction of animal. In this paper, we briefly reviewed the role of KISS-1/GPR54 gene in the reproductive capacity of pigs. The content of this paper could provide some help in exploring the genetic mechanism of reproduction regulation in pigs, and also could provide a reference for improving the production of pig farm and the breeding projects of excellent pigs.
