Although Hemingway thought that the journalist practice means 'the ordinary self-destruction of a writer's life', the journalist career undergone by him had in fact formed the foundation for his particular writing style. Such an experience also provided his literary creation a timely and effective support of economy, and had played the role of necessary life enlightenment in his literary world. The journalist career was indeed helpful to his growth as a distinguished writer. Nevertheless, the Hemingway's pattern of literary growth is by no means universal. The influence of journalist practice on the literary creation is two sided: except for the active side, the passive effect can be found in the conflict of these two fields in their narrative modes, writing concepts and creation time. The journalist career does not mean the preparation period for a writer. The two occupations should be treated separately.
