文字在布依族语言保持和文化传承中的作用

On the Function of Characters in the Maintenance of the Bouyei Language and Its Cultural Transmission

文字是记录语言的符号,也是文化的载体,是传递信息和传承文化的媒介。布依族自古没有一套适应本民族语言结构的文字体系,虽曾经借用汉字记录本民族宗教经文并将其传承下来,但掌握的人不多,使用的范围极其狭窄。布依族大量的文化创造被湮没在漫漫历史长河中,新布依文的创制为布依族语言的保持和文化的传承创造了有利的条件,80年代中期以来,新创布依文在这方面发挥了重要的作用,取得了一定的成果。

Characters are the symbols for recording language,and the carrier of culture,the media of delivering messages as well. The Bouyei people had not a writing system which is adapted to their language in history. Although they had borrowed the Han Chinese characters to take down their religious scriptures and handed them down,only a small number of people knew this kind of scripts which is limited in scope. Most of the cultural creation of the Bouyei people had been submerged in the long course of history. The newly created Bouyei writing system plays a very important role in the maintenance and transmission of Bouyei culture.
