李鸿章与中国早期现代化——兼评牟复礼对李鸿章的评价

洋务运动是中国在19世纪发生的早期现代化历程。李鸿章是洋务运动的重要代表人物之一,学术界对他的评价到今天仍莫衷一是。海外学者牟复礼从军队现代化等角度,严厉指责李鸿章的洋务活动。通过史实资料等,从19世纪中国早期现代化的困境、近代中国军队现代化两个问题可以看出牟复礼对李鸿章的评价有失偏颇,李鸿章在中国早期现代化过程中的作用应得到客观评价。
