From the perspective of postcolonial ecocriticism, this paper elaborates on the confrontation of Native American culture and western development ideology in Leslie Marmon Silko's Garden in the Dunes, thus affirming the Indian culture which respects the land, and criticizing colonial invasion which destructs the local environment and culture and causes psychological trauma to the native people. The Indian 'Ghost Dance'ceremony with land as its core value can resist colonial plunder and commodity fetishism, restore the productivity of land and the harmonious relationship between human and nature.
