青铜面具在殷墟一期时期 ,几乎同时起源于今北京平谷、西安老牛坡、四川三星堆一带 ,然后向周围传播。作为沟通神人之间的工具 ,青铜面具是巫术文化的表现形式之一。由于只有身份较高的人才能拥有青铜面具 。

The bronze mask originated almost concurrently in the first period of Yin Xu in Pinggu of Beijing, Laoniupo of Xi'an and Sanxingdui of Sichuan province, then it influenced nearby regions. The brone mask, as a kind of tools connecting God and human, is one pattern of sorcery culture. Because only high status can possess the bronze masks, the bronze mask is possibly the ceremonial implement symbolizing the people's status.
