By analysing enormous economic losses caused by red tide pollution which result from phosphate in detergent flowing into rivers , lakes and seas, this paper put forward the best way to resolve phosphate pollution is that government should legislate laws to prohibit phosphorus in detergent. It also introduced the layered silicon as a new type builder of phosphate - free detergent is the best substitute for sodium tripolyphosphate.
