Water injection technique(WIT)is an injection molding technology,in that the hollow cavities are generated by injection of water instead of gas into the plastic melt.With WIT,production cycles can be shortened by 30 %~ 70 % compared with gas injection due to the better cooling effect of water.Furthermore,the thinner residual wall thickness,the more accurately centered cavity and the more homogenous microstructure can be achieved.The principles,injector technology, advantages and disadvantages,and potential application of WIT were introduced.
