The key to the development of an expert system lies in effectively summing up the expert knowl-edge and building up a perfect knowledge data base.Taking Sn-deposit prognostication as example,thispaper deals with the process for setting up the base,including:knowledge summarization,expert consul-tation,building up a tentative knowledge base,knowledge relation (deduction) network,forms of descrip-tion and storage for rules,and a revision of rules to attain perfection.
