The art theory of the scholars in the Song Dynasty is th e origin of that of the chinese paintings. Its formation had a great influence on both the development of Chinese paintings of the Song Dynasty and the theory of scholars of later generations. Based on this theory, this essay makes a study of and illustrates its tendency and special characteristics.
