白起之死新议

A New View on the Death of Bai Qi

历代史家在论及秦国著名将领白起的死因时 ,皆以为是丞相范睢心胸狭窄 ,妒忌白起的战功而排挤、打击白起 ,最终逼迫白起自杀。其实 ,白起不是死于范睢而是死于其暴虐的性格 ;死于其居功自高而桀骜不逊从而与秦昭王产生的冲突 ;死于其不审时度势从而与秦国的既定方略产生的矛盾。

When studying the cause of death of Bai Qi,a famous officer at Qin Dynasty,historicans would think that it is because of the envy and persecution by Fan Sui,the prime Minister of Qin Dynasty at that time,that led bo Bai Qis committing suicide.But in fact,it is more lilely to be because of Bai Qi his brutal disposition,the conflict between himself and the emperor Qin Zhaowang,the social policies as well.
