近代七十年 ,湖南文人队伍变化急剧 ,道咸间以经世闻名 ;同光之际以办洋务著称。维新运动起 ,变法救亡之风遍上下 ;新世纪初 ,英俊群起 ,反清革命为全国之最。

Literates in Hunan province changed greatly in70 years of the modern times. They were famous for kingcraft in the epoch of Dao Guang and Xian Feng,and for West- ernization Movementin the epoch of Tong Zhi and Guang Xu.From the reform movement on,they thought aboutreforming to save the nation from extinction.Lots of them threw themselves into revolution atthe beginning of the new century,and the amountofrevolu- tionists is the largestall over the country.The key factors forthe change of Literates' ide- ology and action were circumstances and education.
