论顾千里对校勘学的贡献

On GU Qian-li's Contribution to Collation Science

顾千里是清代嘉庆、道光间的著名学者 ,精于校勘之学 ,所校勘的典籍广为流布沾溉后世 ,被誉为“清代校勘学第一人”。他特别注重收罗众本 ,辨明版本源流 ,讲求不同版本的互勘 ;多本互勘 ,至顾千里而益加精密。其“不校校之”原则决不是无所作为 ,也不是想当然地乱改古籍 ,而是“不校”与“校”的结合运用。顾千里把古籍校勘的实践与理论都推向了一个高峰。

GU Qian li, noted scholar in the Jia Qing Dao Guang reigns of Qing dynasty, was an expert in collation and the classics collated by him have been widely welcomed. He has since been honored 'first collation specialist of Qing'. He paid a special attention to collecting different editions, determining their sources, and was very careful in cross collation, which reached a height of fineness in his lifetime. His principle of 'No collation, best collation' should not be understood as doing nothing or altering classical works at will; rather, it meant a combination of collation with no collation. He reached a height in collation of classical works both theoretically and in practice, thereby made a great contribution to collation science in China.
