This paper traces the influence of Freud's psychoanalysis and expecially his three-dimensional personality theory on Eugene O'Neill's creation,and analyses the duel-personality of characters and techniques of expression in O'Neill's dramas.O'Neill employs ghosts,masks,asides,monologue and even two actors to show the two egos of one person,which is very visual and special.It also points out that people's inner conflicts and split personality are the source of tragedy.
