语域理论要求语体风格必须与所使用的环境相匹配 ,否则会妨碍交际的进行。但是通过讨论语域出现变异时所产生的作用和效果 ,旨在说明违反语言使用的常规 ,如果使用得当 ,则会使语言更具表现力和感染力。

Register theory shows that the style of language should fit with its field, otherwise it makes communication hard to go on. However, register deviation, a form of violation to the norm of language use, may make the utterance more forceful and appealing, if put appropriately. The paper analyzes the four functions of register deviation.
