A Textual Research on the Biographies of the Ethnic Hereditary Headmen in the Records of Ming History

《明史·贵州土司传》是研究明代贵州民族史的基础史料之一 ,历代史学者出于对《明史》的信赖和遵从 ,也十分珍视《明史·贵州土司传》。但由于《明史》主编及参撰人员对土司列传类的内容重视不够 ,再加编修《明史》时已去明初三百余年、距明亡亦近一个世纪。因此 ,《明史·贵州土司传》出现了诸如史实交待欠明晰、领属关系不清楚、地望考订不周详等重大误漏 ,给相关民族史研究造成了诸多的混乱和失误 ,本文依据《明实录》

The Biographies of the ethnic hereditary headmen is a fundamental historical data of the research on the ethnic history in Guizhou of Ming dynasty. Such data was trusted and followed by the historians. But for various reasons, these biographies in the Records of Ming History have such mistakes as some wrong examinations of regions in history and descriptions of the historical facts, ect. On the basis of another historical records, the Veritable Records of Ming Dynasty, this paper makes some preliminary corrections in these biographies.
