加入世贸组织 ,意味着中国经济进一步融入全球经济之中。这种新的环境对我国西部地区经济有何影响 ,西部地区应如何适应、如何发展是一个值得探讨的问题。本文分析了入世给西部地区经济发展带来的机遇与挑战 ,并提出用世贸组织规则维护利益、调整农业结构、发展特色经济及支柱产业、提高科技水平。

Joining WTO means that Chinas economy is among the global economy in further degree. How will this new environment influence the economy in our western area? How will the western area find its feet or develop? They are questions to be worth discussing. The article analyzes that joining WTO provides the chances and challenges to the western economy, and suggests some detailed countermeasures that we should make use of WTO laws to maintain the profits, adjust agricuttural structure, develop characteristic economy and supporting the industries, raise the scientific standard and work hard to develop the education.
