《九歌》篇目之争由来已久。由于对“九”的理解不同,有去篇说、合篇说,有迎神送神曲说,有即为现存篇数说。众家各执一辞,各持一偏,或有悖事情,或失之公允,或妄意揣度,故虽有可取,但终难变通。文章意在对以上所提诸说剔经拨髓、详加蠡定,以求得近切当公允。

The endless debate about the table of contents of “Nine Songs”has been known to all, and lasted for a very long time. Since there existed many different interpretations of “nine”, a lot of wordings appeared, such as the cancelled table and amdgamated tables, and table to meet and to see off gods, and even the eleven-table. Each sticks to his own version, but some are against facts, some are lack of just and some even made wild guesses. It turns out that, although there are something to recommend, yet it is difficult to adapted to circumstances. So in order to seek an interpretation which is more close to just and fair, the article wants to analyse the essence of each wording mentioned above and to judge in detail all the aspects concerned.
