江泽民同志在十六大报告中指出,21世纪头20年是中国发展的战略机遇期,中国将进入全面建设小康社会的战略转折时期。面对机遇和挑战,中国共产党始终高举邓小平理论和“三个代表”的旗帜,坚持理论创新,以理论创新推动制度创新和各项事业的创新,在解放思想中统一思想,在应对挑战中倍加珍惜党的团结。

In the report at the 16th National Con gress of the Communist Party of China(CPC),Comrade Jiang Zemin pointed out that the first two decades of the 21st century are a period of strategic opportunities for China' s development,while China will enter the strategic turni ng period of building a well-off society in an all-round way.Confronted w ith opportunities and challenges,the Communist Party of China will always hold high the gre at banner of Deng Xiaoping Theory and'Three Representsand uphold theoretical innovation,bringing forth new ideas in institut ions and all the other fields through theo-retical innovation.The Party will c onsistently seek in unity of thinkin g through emancipation of the mind an d value all the more the unity of the Party while meetina with the challenges.
