'思想'和'哲学'是从事哲学研究时经常遇到的两个概念。然而,'思想'和'哲学'何以可能?两者又是什么样的关系?大致来讲,'思想'作为人的本质属性,乃经过理性思考而得出的相对稳定性的理论。'哲学'作为一门'爱智慧'的学问,乃基于对'思想'的反思而在超越层面研究'事实'与'价值'的学问。真正的'思想'之'自由'乃'思想'遵从自己设定的'规则',故'哲学'应为'思想'设定'规则',即'立法'。因此,二者的关系是:'思想'是'哲学'的基础,'哲学'源于'思想';'哲学'为'思想''立法','哲学'是'思想'的'首脑'。
