Kumarajiva,who has enjoyed a high reputation in the long history of the Buddhist sutras translation,was well-re-nowned and was called as"the first class master of translation"by Liang Qichao.His translation of the Buddhist scriptures has been widely acknowledged and propagated.The sutra translation theory and practice of Kumarajiva have had a profound impact on the ancient translation theory and Chinese language and literature.This paper explores Kumarajiva's experiences in his life-time,his sutras translation theory,the features of his translation and discusses the influences of his translation theories.
