China telecom industry has been busy since this fall: China Telecom is busy in its IPO effort; China Unicom is speeding up its CDMA; China Mobile is promoting its MMS. It seems that only China Netcom Group keeps a low profile among the four Giant telecom operators. The seemingly quiet China Netcom Group, however, is launching its version of "fighting on the battlefields of both South and North China" (a classic Chinese film). The journalist of China Telecom Trade had an interview with Mr. Leng Rongquan, vice president of China Netcom Group who is in charge of the marketing strategy and network operation, on November 11 when China Netcom Group was half a year old. Mr. LENG explained China Netcom Group's strategy of invading into South China while defending the North China: developing new territories of South China by means of setting up joint stock subsidiaries while tapping the market potentials of North China by means of service innovation.
