Reasons of Modern Dramas Prevailed in Universities in Beijing During 1911-1937

1911-1937年,学生演剧处于北京话剧演出的主流地位。各学校纷纷成立话剧社团,报刊经常刊载学生创作的剧本、演出广告及剧评。话剧盛行于北京地区高校的原因主要是:现代大学构建起学生演剧的文化空间;五四新文化运动促进校园话剧意识的觉醒;留欧美学者的戏剧教育对校园话剧的引领;报刊媒介对校园话剧的有效传播。当代校园戏剧呈现出繁荣的景象,但本质上边缘性、非专业性等因素存在,使其文化传播受到很大限制。

The students’performance dominated in Beijing modern dramas from 1911 to 1937.Many drama club were set up in numbers of schools;the scripts,advertisements of plays and the theater reviews always were published on the newspapers.The reasons why modern drama prevailed in universities in Beijing are shown in the following aspects.The modern universities constructed a cultural space for students’performing.The May Fourth new culture movement aroused the consciousness of campus drama.Drama education of scholars who had ever studied in Europe and America led the campus dramas.The newspaper medium mechanism promoted the campus drama efficiently.At the moment,modern campus drama is prospering,but the intrinsic marginality and inexpertness are great barriers in their cultural transmission.
