Sanyan'(Three Short Stories Collections) compiled by Feng Meng long is the masterworks in the ancient vernacular short stories. But we can not simply classify them as the folk stories. On the contrary 'Sanyan' reflect orthodox ideas. They are different from the scripts for story tellers. There are great differences in ideas, literary form and the aesthetic standards between 'Sanyan' and the scripts for story tellers. 'Sanyan' is the symbol of the refinement of the ancient vernacular short stories.
