LETTING STUDENTS GUIDE THEIR OWN LEARNINGAN EXPERIMENTAL PROJECT ON STUDENTS AUTONOMY

This paper describes a one-term experiment conducted in the authors English major class form sept.1999 to Dec.1999. The project is intended to encourage students autonomy, and to train students how to acquire various skills in language learning and communication .The project provided students with enough space to exert their autonomy and attained its desired goals .The beneficial effects show in three aspects: The center of teaching and learning shifts from the teacher to the student; give autonomous learning environment, students can learn more effectively; and students can acquire all round abilities.
