Metonymic Mechanism of Advising Illocutionary Construction

本研究打破传统言语行为理论中直接言语行为与间接言语行为非此即彼的观点,运用言外ICM理论,以建议类言语行为为案例,总结其言外ICM的本体和结构参数,探究其言外构式的间接程度和规约程度。研究认为,建议类言语行为的间接性与非间接性、规约性与非规约性构成连续统,依据各构式转喻操作所激活的参数数量以及分布而呈等级性特征:被激活数量越多,参数分布越靠近本体,间接程度越低,规约性越高;反之,间接程度越高,规约性越低。

Refuting the traditional clear cut between the directness and indirectness of speech acts and taking advising speech act as a case study,the paper investigates the ontology and structure of advising illocutionary ICM from the perspective of illocutionary ICM and makes a research about the indirectness and conventionality of different advising illocutionary constructions.This paper concludes that the directness,indirectness,conventionality and non-conventionality are regarded as a continuum,bearing hierarchy according to the numbers and distance of different parameters through metonymic operation:the more are activated and the closer to the ontology,the lower degree of indirectness and the higher degree of conventionality that the illocutionary construction bears;otherwise,the higher degree of indirectness and the lower degree of conventionality that the illocutionary construction bears.
