On the Status and Role of Examination in Educational Reform - Also on the Functional Defects and Role of Examination

迄今考试仍然是选拔人才最有效的手段。在教育改革中,它发挥着其它要素所不可替代的功能。但是,我们不能对考试过分迷信,任意夸大其功能,考试有着自身无法克服的功能性缺陷。

Examination has so far remained to be the most effective means in selecting talents. It also plays an irreplaceable role in the educational reform. However, we should never worship examination in a blind way or overstate its functions, because examination does bear some functional defects which can not be overcome.
