How to set a proper standard and identify the passing score is not only a technology-based issue, but also an important aspect concerning the fairness of examination. The article introduces two classical examination theories and their special methods: one is CTT and its method of comparison and judgment, method of examination content analysis; the other is IRT and its corresponding methods. The author hopes that people involved in the relative work of examination can get some enlightenment from the introduction.
