英语通用语理论对中国高校英语专业口语教学的启示

摘要 英语通用语理论(English as a Lingual Franca)自上世纪80年代以来不断发展,它对英美英语变体权威地位和本族语者主义的挑战,以及对中国高校英语专业的学生提高英语口语水平具有现实意义。通过简明介绍英语通用语理论,总结目前该理论在中国高校英语教学中的探索,探讨现在英语专业学生口语教学存在的问题,并提出基于此理论对英语专业口语教学内容上的建议,望能够让英语专业的学生更有效率地进行口语学习和练习。 Since 1980 s,the theory of English as a Lingual Franca(ELF) has emerged and developed gradually,thus poses challenges to the hegemony of British and American English and rebuts native-speakerism.This phenomenon has practical meanings for Chinese English majors to improve their oral English.Such being the case,the present article begins with an introduction to the theory of ELF,then makes a summary of related studies at home as well as the problems in current teaching of oral English in China.Some suggestions about how to use the theory of ELF to guide the oral English teaching are presented at the end,hoping to offer some insight into Chinese English major s learning and practice of oral English.
