A Study on Linguaphone Oriental Language Courses: Chinese

老舍1920年代参与编写的《言语声片》,是世界汉语教学最早的一套系统有声教材,但对这套教材的研究极少。本文重点分析该教材的语音、词汇、语法、话题。考察声调和声母的编排;分析纲外词入选的原因,总结词汇编写特点;考察语法规则及语法教学特点;描述课文话题的范围。最后,分析《言语声片》的编写理念、原则及不足,并对其进行整体评价。

In 1920 s Lao She participated in the compilation of Linguaphone Oriental Language Courses: Chinese,the first systematic set of audio-included materials for Chinese teaching in the world, which however has been barely researched on. This paper focuses on four parts of the book—phonetics, vocabulary, grammar and topics. It studies the arrangement of tones and initials in the book, analyzes the reasons behind the selection of the out-of-syllabus words, summarizing the book's features regarding vocabulary compilation, investigates the grammatical rules and features of grammar teaching, and describes the scope of the topics. Afterward, it makes an analysis of the ideas and principles observed in the compilation of the book, points out the weaknesses of the book, and makes a basic comment on it.
