Provence is close to the Mediterranean and next to Italy. The Rhone River passes through the middle area of it. The Rhone, which passes from Alpes to Lyon, divides into two branches in Provence and finally the two branches flow together into the Mediterranean. Provence is world-famous as the "Hometown of Lavender" and produces high-quality wine. It is also the "city of knight" in Europe, which is the cradle of important literary genre of Middle Ages-knight lyrics. Provence is composed of the famous cities like Aix-en-Provence and Marseilles as well as towns like Arles, Gordes and Nimes. With bright sunshine and beautiful natural scenery, Provence has remained a popular destination since Roman times.
