The paper presents explicit study in social background, machinery situation, environment and management development of marine engineering management that has passed through three development periods. it presents systematic analysis at the applying of machinery of every period, their advantages and disadvantages, the reason about its progress and retrogress, the character and transformation of the marine engineering management and the process in which engineering management pertains to the category of modern scientific management. This paper also presents prediction about the direction of marine engineering management development. With the fast development of technology about automation, micro electronic,communication etc, the 21 st century will be the knowledge economic epoch. The members of marine engineering department will further decrease, informatization, intelligentization, latticing, the combination of steer and machine,the integration of ship and shore will be a tendency .
