Cathedral,a representative work in outstanding American novelist Raymond Carver's late years,is a collection of his novels,which consists of eleven chapters,telling the unique stories respectively. This novel seems loose in structure but actually its structure has a tight layout. Besides,it follows the author's outlook on literature and language whether between the author and the work,between the author and readers or in the chapters,which makes the novel extremely intense as a whole.
